Have you noticed all the purple lately? It doesn’t matter the application-ads, clothing, decor, paint, whatever it’s all around and kind of refreshing. Purple does feel daunting though, doesn’t it? I mean what colors work with it? It just seems like it would suck the oxygen out of a space, but not so. Read on to find out more!

Easy & Fun Actually

When I first learned that purple was going to be prominent for 2025 a feeling of concern went through me. What & Why? Won’t it totally envelope a space and leave no other voices in the room, like other colors and textures?

Take a look at the images below. Glidden named Purple Basil as their 2025 color of the year. While the high ceilings help to take in the richness of the color, look how great it is for pushing the other colors and textures forward! It really becomes a back drop in a way.

Think about how great this color would be in a room that has gray, gold, or cream. You can go all in like this image or even go into a purple tint, like the lilac comforter. Which brings me to my main image and the lighter purple tones that are below.

How much fun is this? While the two lilacs are lighter than a purple they’re still saturated. See how easily they pair with the gold, taupe, berry and pink, plus the apple green, teal, and olive, and the denim. You’ll find some recent SM posts on the denim blue 2025 trend.
